How to get to cambodia from london
Hi, well the quickest way is almost certainly via Bangkok on a direct flight from London, a flight leaving London at lunchtime, for instance thai, will arrive 06.30 in Bangkok, leaving you plenty of time to get the first flights to PP (thai, air asia) or Siem Reap (bangkok airways), alternatively BA, Quantas and Eva all have evening direct flights that arrive mid afternoon which still lets you get to Cambodia that evening. Only slightly longer would be to get a direct sevice to KL in Malaysia with Malaysian or Air Asia and then Air Asia into Cambodia, this will be a little cheaper. Eva also connect to PP via Taipei, but it%26#39;s a longer flight and similarly via Hong Kong with Cathay and Dragon, or Singapore with SA, BA or Quantas and Silk Air.
With your plans it maybe makes more sense to start in Siem Reap, then down to Phnom Penh and finally Sihanoukville, I think you have quite a lot of time to just do those three places and whilst it%26#39;s easy to use up a week in Siem with side trips 3 days is enough in Phnom Penh IMHO.. 3 weeks is quite a long time if you are not going to explore more of the countryside, maybe Battenbang or Kratie. Kampot and Kep are worth a visit and some of the islands off Sihanoukville are worth seeing and the Ko Kong area is worth exploring. You get to Sihanoukville either in a bus (4 hours) from Phnom Penh or a taxi which is a bit faster.
Search the forums for hotel recommendations, you are spoilt for choice in Siem Reap, Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville have some nice places and off the beaten track thiongs can be patchy
Well, those are just my thoughts and I%26#39;m sure there will be a lot of other opinions given. Whatever you decide I hope you have a good time
How to get to cambodia from london
Check out options for London to KL as flights from KL to Siem Reap Penh are quite cheap through AirAsia.
I would then fly KL to Siem Reap and spend about 5 days there. We stayed at Day Inn and it was quite nice, large swimming pool and a full buffet breakfast included.
Then on to Phnom Penh. Mekong Express is the best bus service and the trip takes about 4-5 hrs. You should allow 2 days for PP. Make sure you check out the half price happy hour cocktails at Raffles Hotel (6-8pm nightly). In PP we stayed at Billabong Hotel and loved it. It is central and has a great swimming pool.
The bus trip to Sihanoukville will also take about 4hrs. We loved our stay here and ventured on bikes to Kampot and Kep during our stay. Return is via Phnom Penh and you should overnight there before flying out for your outbound leg.
We have pics, maps and stories of our 3 week trip to Cambodia here... www.bobandjanette.com which may help.
Happy %26amp; safe travels
hi bob and jannett
i dont want to do to much traveling about i am going to give siam rep a miss and just go to phnom penh then on to sihanoukville, so i would like to fly to p p from london, and return same way.
do you know of any nice place to stay in sihanoukville, dont want to stay in a very busy area but also dont want to be to far away from all the restaurents,as we like to have a walk about at night , we are in mid 50ies and also like to hire a moped while we are there is there anything in particular that we should visit.
Hello Suebroad,
Have you been to Siem Reap (Angkor), if not, please do not give it a miss, you will regret this decision !
I do regret it , I have been very close to Angkor 10 years ago (Bangkok), and I decided not to go, too much hassle etc. That was my worst decision ever !!
From Phnom Penh you can fly (Bangkok Airways, expensive , one way about $80) or take a bus to Siem Reap (Mekong Express , around $10-$11 ), or by taxi (I got a quote for $70), bus and taxi takes about 5 hours.
However I will travel around Vietnam and Cambodia , I bought my ticket from London to Bangkok (this was the cheapest with Emirates ).I can`t remember back now, but I checked the price from London to Phnom Penh, and that was very expensive in that time, somewhere around the double , but maybe they reduced the prices now.
I will fly with Air Asia from Bangkok, they are really cheap.
It is worth to have a look.
have a nice holiday!

If you have never been to Angkor wat and your in cambodia it would be daft not to see it, it would be like going to egypt and not seeing the pyramids.
You can give PhnomPenh a miss, but not Siem Reap.
