find a nice hotel for not a ton of money. My husband is currently in Iraq and we are meeting for R%26amp;R (have not seen each other in 9 long months). We arrive in Phnom Penh on the 12th of April. We would like something near the markets but a decent area as well. I know we will be there during the New Year and that is part of the draw for us. Is it at all possible to find a clean decent hotel for 50.00 or less in this area? Thank you so much in advance!

We stayed at the Billabong Hotel, ground floor overlooking the huge salt water swimming pool. Rooms are aircon, fridge, ensuite etc and fit your price range. We would certainly stay there again and is a $2 tuk tuk ride to anywhere in town so quite central. A short 5 minute walk to central market.
We have some pics, stories and maps of our trip here... www.bobandjanette.com which may help.
Happy %26amp; safe travels

Oh, and make sure you check out happy hour half price cocktails at Raffles Hotel. On every evening from 6pm til 8pm in the elephant bar.
Thank you so much!!! I will check the hotel and your website out!!
sigh.... That hotel has nothing available for those dates. Any other suggestions?
Check Sunny lek_sovanrith@yahoo.com good room on the riverside with balcony overlooking the river $35.00 , has lower cost rooms .
indochinehtl@camnet.com.kh good clean rooms close to riverside and markets , friendly staff $12.00 and up .
Enjoy your R+R .
I will thank you!
Are you not visiting Siem Reap?
They are on a second honey-moon , better to lay on a beach at Snooky-ville than ramble around relics .
we just stayed at the hotel castle on the river, very nice hotel, took us about ten mins by tuk tuk to the markets, well worth a look
Hi, I stayed in Phnom Penh from November to January 09 and I had marvellous accommodation at the Fancy Guesthouse which is pretty central. You can see my review here on Tripadvisor or you can email me for lots more useful information on peterb736@googlemail.com
Cheers,
Peter
