Hello everyone,
I%26#39;m planning to visit the floating village with the Tara river boat company. Is it worth it?
I%26#39;m between the half day tour of Chong Khneas and the full day tour of Kompong Phluk. Which is the best one?
Thank you,
juan
Floating Village Tour - HELP !!!!
Hi Juan,
The ';Villa Siem Reap'; hotel organises whole and half day tours to both places, %26amp; much cheaper than the Tara boat. Have a look at their web page. When I go, I am going to do the whole day Kompong Phluk/ flooded forest tour. Looks great, gets great raves and might not be sooooooooooooooo touristy, as many people don%26#39;t give themselves enough time to see all the extra%26#39;s siem reap has to offer. I%26#39;m staying a week.Anyway, that%26#39;s the decision I%26#39;ve made after reading all the forums etc.
Good Luck

Floating Village Tour - HELP !!!!
I did the Villa Siem Reap tour to Kompong Pluk and really enjoyed it. It took most of the day. We stopped at a village market on the way and then took the boat to the village on stilts.
There were just 5 of us on the tour and we only saw two other tourists at the village. We also took small boats into the flooded forest which was really cool.
Villa Siem Reap provided an air con car and driver, lunch, and a guide for $25. The tour will go even if you are the only one booked on it.
I also did their Beng Melea tour and one called the Outlying Adventure which went to Kabal Spean and Bantey Srei. Both were good value for money.
Hi DJ,
Did the $25 tour cost include the small boats into the flooded forest? I think I read it might be extra - about $5pp.

Yes, it was $5 extra for the little boats. We went through the flooded forest and out to the Tonle Sap and then our bigger boat picked us up and took us back through the village.
Actually, now that I think about it, I think its $15/little boat so we ended up each paying $5.
Thanks DJ, you are confirming what I had read somewhere before.
