Hi! My family of 4 (including two teenagers) will be going to Vietnam and Cambodia for 4 wks. this summer. Do most 3-star hotel rooms in Angkor Wat and Battambang have full or queens or kings beds? Are most rooms pretty large? When we traveled to Peru 2 yrs ago, most rooms came with 2 full beds, which was a little tight for us.
We%26#39;re trying to book our hotels in Cambodia now. Or is it possible to just book the room(s) when we arrive in July? Or is that too risky? My teenagers definitely seem to bicker a lot in tight quarters. Also my husband and I are 50ish, travel a lot, and admittedly like comfortable accomodations. But at the same time, it would be nice to save some money.
Your advice is greatly appreciated.
Maybe we should leave the teens at home--just kidding!

Depends on the hotel, but some places will have double beds, some semi-double (not as large as a double.) I suggest you get two rooms- one for you and one for your kids. Rooms are generally not so spacious, unless you are shelling out a lot of money. You can find very nice guesthouses wiht ensuite rooms for 2 for under $20 per night. I would suggest booking your rooms a month in advance or so, if you find a place you are set on.

Hi clani,
we stayed at the Day Inn (you can get reviews on this site) in september. Rooms were a great size but I don%26#39;t remember if the bed was a queen or a double. POol was fabulous - ground floor rooms opened onto grassed area round pool via a tiny courtyard, upstairs we had a balcony - plenty big enough for two but not 4 (especially if thy are teenagers who take up way more space than an adult the same size!)
Breakfasts could be taken on a terrace near the pool or inside.
We booked before we went. Walking distance (well a very comfortable stroll) into town. Taking your teens to a country like Cambodia is the best education your money can buy.
Look out for the neat little pocket guide on eating in SR - plenty to choose from
happy travels (though I really do recommend leaving them at home sometimes - this was our first trip minus the teens and it was great!)
cheers
helen
