Where to stay in phnom pehn

Hi, I am a 53yr old single traveller, I plan to spend 3 or 4 nights in pp in june, my main purpose is sightseeing, I have seen many hotels on the internet, only to look them up here and see terrible reviews, I have stayed in thailand many times in budget hotels, so I am not looking for luxury, a $25 a night room, clean, safe, and where my belongings will be safe, I only like western food, any recommendations? does anyone know anything about the tonle sap guesthouse on street 104? thanks mike

Hi Mike

Just come back from PP and Cambodia and stayed in PP two nights at Happiness 2, dont exactly know where it was located because my mate who lives there met us and booked us into this place, but its very central, a 10 minute walk to Walkabout (A well known expat bar that most %26#39;residential%26#39; lads use alot, and I think it was only about 15 dollars a night. Happiness 1 is across the road, didn%26#39;t go in there but I think Hap 2 is better , although we did have a slight noisy stay because of work going on and they start knocking about at around 7.30, but it was OK for us because we had long days ahead with sightseeing, etc although it could be nearly all finished now. To be honest this place would be far away from the best Hotel you%26#39;ve stayed in, but its got a good location, staff are quite helpful and its pretty clean, it doesn%26#39;t do meals like breakfast or dinner here though. Dont know anything about Tonle Sap Guesthouse, sorry but maybe I could ask my mate.

We stayed several nights in PP at the Billabong hotel and loved it. They have probably the best salt water swimming pool in town which is a blessing from the afternoon heat.

We have some pics and stories of our trip here... www.bobandjanette.com which may help.

Happy %26amp; safe travels

Hi there,

We have booked the Velkommen Inn for early June for $30US a night. Owner seems pleasant with quick replies to my emails. It gets pretty good reviews on here.He offered the choice of a 20,30 or 40 with balcony room. Positon seems ok,too. Hopes this helps.
