New more flexible Angkor Temple Passes

The Cambodian Government announced on 3rd March that Angkor Ticket validities are to be extended.

The 3 day pass $40 becomes valid for one week; that is 3 days to be used within 7 days

The 1 week pass $60 now is valid for one month; that is 3 days to be used within one month.

The start date of these new arrangements is yet to be confirmed but it is expected to be in the second week of March 2009

This is really good news for those who visiting and working here and will make planning visits to Angkor a much more leisurely experience. This will be of great benefit in the rainy season where bad weather can disrupt visits.

I think I posted at the same time as you. Oh well, at least people are bound to see the posts! :-)

Thanks for the good news.

Surely some final touch is needed to get the new system going.

As for now, the current 3-day pass expired automatically 3 days from the date issued, right?

With the new extended validity, how is it going to keep track of the number of days utilised?

Hmmm, would be great if it can be further break down to half a day, ie if I%26#39;m holding the 3-day pass and it%26#39;s valid for a week, when I visit the temple for just one morning, I still have the balance of two and a half days left for the week...(wishful thought, lol)

Hope to see the update later.

';With the new extended validity, how is it going to keep track of the number of days utilised?';

They%26#39;ll probably punch it with a hole-puncher, as they do when they validate the pass on the first day of use...

Oh yes, Maneki-neko, have read the similiar post by you. Thanks for the news.

For me, another plus point is that temple fatique can now be avoided by arranging the temple visits in alternate days.

Manei Nieko is probably right about the holes in passes; but I will find out this week and let you know.

As someone who lives in Siem Reap and has to pay like all foreigners; the 7day in the month pass is going to be very useful

Seems like something similiar to the ';season pass'; would be better of for you, peaceofangkor.

Am looking forward to your update.

There was a long term pass some years ago; but it was so expensive that I could not justify the expense for the time I spend at Angkor.

I have been concentrating on Tonle Sap Lake and remote temples 4wd trips ; leaving my expert guides for the Angkor Temples.
