We will be in Siem Reap the first week in August and are looking at hotels in the US$20-30 range. Is it best to try and get a hotel with a pool at this time of year?
Also any hotel recommendations would be appreciated.

A place with a pool is going to be upwards of $50 these days. Try these-
Hotel Cambodiana (from $150)
The Pavillion ($80 range)
Billabong ($60 or so)
Juliana ($80 range)

Golden Banana B%26amp;B has a pool and is close to the centre, double rooms are in your price range and there are other places in Siem Reap that have a pool for that price range. A pool is quite nice to cool off after temple visiting. When I was there for a week at the end of last August I think I used the pool twice, sometimes you just get fed up with getting wet!
Oops! Paulo is right, I posted places for Phnom Penh!
Thanks for your quick reply.
If you want a nice place with a swimming pool then try Central Angkor Boutique hotel, this is newish hotel with nice A/C rooms and good swimming pool. Prices should be around 30$ a night low season. Its pretty well located as well in Taphul village.
Many places have very small swimming pools but look big on their website pictures. Above mentioned is a good size.
i have stayed at the claremont angkor hotel i think its 4 or 5 star great location well managed,by aussies, top valve in this price range..book early for best price, new hotel and great pool..
I,ve just arrived back from Siem Reap where I stayed at the Somadevi Angkor hotel. Great pool, very good breakfast, and good clean rooms. Good location about 5-10 min walk to pub street, night market etc. Supermarket 50 metres down the street. Get a Cellcard brand SIM for your phone and make cheap calls to Aust. $10 US for a pre paid and they last along time. Hotel $65 AUD including Breakfast for a double.
