Does anyone have experience and suggestions for tour or guide in Siem Reap (Angkor Complex)? Also need info on accommodation there. We have 4 days in mid April planned for holiday. Suggestions for a reliable tour guide and experience with hotel and guide in Angkor complex also appreciated. This is a last minute decision to travel. Have been told we should do it all when we get there. Any thoughts? That would be appreciated very much. Thanks.

Advice for tour guide %26amp; hotel, please.
It%26#39;s low season so you will have no problem finding accommodation at this time of year. The aforementioned site is probably the best for Cambodia info, and Travelfish (link here)
http://www.travelfish.org/country/cambodia has soem excellent info as well.
We had a wonderful guide Tek, with whom we spent 6 days going to local temples, Preak Toal Bird Sanctuary %26amp; distant temples of Beng Melea %26amp; Koh Kher.
Tek is licensed to guide in both Siem Reap (where he lives with his wife %26amp; infant daughter) and the capitol of PP.
Tek has a wonderful sense of humor %26amp; 9 years experience as a guide.
LengTek@yahoo.com or call him at

Our Canadian friend will be touring with Tek from April 18--April 24... so if you%26#39;re going before or after that, Tek is available. Tek will be taking Wendy on an overnight to a very remote temple called Banteay Chmar, they will overnight at a homestay.
A clean, very cheap hotel with a pool (as it%26#39;s hot) is the ENCORE ANGKOR GUEST HOUSE... Wendy will be staying there. Rooms are US$25 +... They have a website %26amp; are excellent about replying, but don%26#39;t let them bamboozle you into hiring their driver, you need a LICENSED GUIDE to properly see the temples. It%26#39;s the only thing I don%26#39;t like about them, but a lot of hotels do this. Prices include breakfast.
A guide can take you inside, a driver is not allowed. A guide knows best times, secret entrances... and Tek will help you buy your temple passes. Since you have only 4 days, a great guide will give you the most of your time.
If you want a little more upscale, VIROTH%26#39;S HOTEL is a boutique hotel w/ a pool, about $80 US. Both can be found on T/A.
If you want higher end JOURNEYS-WITHIN... which is lovely but not centrally located. About $140 US w/ very good breakfast %26amp; FREE laundry.
Get your visa online at the Cambodian Embassy website, it%26#39;s emailed back in 2 days. Everyone pays a departure tax, both can be paid w/ credit cards.
US$ comes out of the ATMs in Siem Reap.
Tek can take you to a money changer to pay a 1% fee to exchange, as opposed to 3% from your hotel.
Tell Tek ';J'; recommended... I%26#39;m sending about 100 children%26#39;s books with Wendy to take to an orphange that Tek helps to support (he buys them food) it%26#39;s called LITTLE ANGELS.
Here are 3 of the best English speaking tour guides in Siem Reap. They will all take very good care of you and give a good service.
Mr. Kimsan
Mr.Chamrong who is Kimsans brother
Mr. John Teng
If you google search them you will find their email addresses.
If you want a good guide then book him in advance as they are busy because they are good. If you get a guide on arrival he/she maybe not so good.
Not sure what budget you on for hotels but some good service hotels are Shinta Mani hotel, Day Inn Angkor, Steung Siem Reap, Soria Moria, Victoria Angkor and Tara Angkor hotel.
If you are coming to Siem Reap around Khmer New Year then I would recommend still booking a hotel in advance if you see one you like.
