Hi all,
I have posted this on the laos forum as well so please excuse if you%26#39;ve read this post there.
Visited Cambodia (very briefly) last year and fell in love with Cambodia and Cambodians. Now planning return visit and would like to include Laos.
Trying to sort out flights etc is doing my head in!
Initial idea is
Sydney to Luang Praban (3 nights) then Vientiane (3 nights) then Siem Reap (for a week) to visit some friends then Phnom Penh (3-4 days) then home.
My question is - which airline/s and in %26amp; out through which %26#39;hub%26#39; - HCMC, Singapore, KL or Bangkok?
With Jetstar we can do the legs Syd/sing and Sing Cambodia. Or we fly into BKK and out through singapore?
your suggestions would be very welcome
cheers
Helen
Aussie to Laos %26amp; Cambodia via ????
Most folks fly into BKK it seems. If you get ongoing tickets (one-way as opposed to round-trip) you are going to be paying more.If you%26#39;re going here %26amp; there in Laos/Cambodia etc you might want to look into the Discovery Airpass, link below

Aussie to Laos %26amp; Cambodia via ????
One option, may sound a little complex, but it does work.
Syd to Gold Coast (Virgin)
Air Asia X Gold Coast to KL. KL to PP (Air Asia), PP to SR(Bus). Alternate KL to SR then bus to PP,
Siem Reap or PP to Luang Prabang (Laos Air). LP to Vientiane (bus or Laos Air). There is a direct flight from Vientiane to KL (Air Asia). KL to GC.
Quite reasonable on Air Asia. Laos Air is another matter, about US$209.
The Air Asia X flight GC to KL on Sunday nights leaves GC about 9pm, arrives KL 4am, KL to Siem Reap leaves 7am.
One advantage over Jetstar is they operate larger aircraft, Jetstar are using 737s and (Ithink) flying via Darwin.
If you get a flight direct to Bangkok, it is cheaper then to fly Air Asia to Phnom Penh, bus or whatever to Siem Reap then fly to Laos.
Vietnam Airways fly SR to LP as well but I think they have a code share deal with Laos Air and may not be any cheaper. They are difficult to book on-line as well.
We often use the Gold Coast route to KL with AA and then onwards. About to travel another 2 times at $299 return so the Virgin option to Goldie is worthy of consideration.
Later this year we are heading to Chiang Mai for Loy Krathong and then are going to do Laos, then home via KL.
Happy %26amp; safe travels

Subject: discovery pass
Good morning...
could you please advise if the following is possible using a discovery pass
Bangkok to Luang Praban (for 3 nights) then
Luang Praban to Vientiane (for 3 nights) then
Vientiane to Siem Reap (for 7 nights) then
Siem Reap to Phnom Penh (for 4 nights) then
Phnom Pehn back to Bangkok and
home to Sydney
What coupons would I need to purchase, and what additional charges (taxes etc) would be applied in addition to the coupon cost.
many thanks
Helen Moore

All sounds expensive to me for local fights, especially if booked in advance.
Does this include the flight back home as the sectors don%26#39;t appear to ad up?
