hochiminh city to siem riep cambodia

we are planning a trip from saigon to siem reap on April 3rd.... all flights seem to be sold out.

how long does it take by bus? anybody any experience to do this by boat or bus? any other advise is much appreciated. is this a special weekend... any special holiday in cambodia?

I used to travel by bus between these two destinations in April last year. It took a whole day and very tiring.

From Saigon (Ho Chi Minh) to Phnom Penh it took about 3.5hrs and from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap it took about 6hrs.

I would recommend you to stop over a night in Phnom Penh on your way from Saigon prior reaching Siem Reap.

The road construction between Cambodia-Vietnam borders ';Barvet'; is almost ready. However, it yet completed 100%. Travel by road was an amazing experience.

Cambodia will celebrate its Khmer New Year Holiday during 13-16 April 2009.

we took the bus two weeks ago,yes its a long day but its very good value and you want to spend as much time in sr as possible,the bus is clean comfortable and very safe.

Did you use an agent to book this airfare or just off the vn airlines website? My understanding is that there is about 3 flights a day out of Saigon to Siem Reap. I was under the impression these planes often are not full. IF you have just gone off the website, it might be worthwhile contacting a agent to help. good luck

single woman travelling alone, took the bus in December Saigon to Siem Reap.

No problem, used Mekong Express, change at Phonm Penh. Long day but bus is comfortable, air-con, films etc. Toilet on board.

Compared to airfares bus is really cheap.

Was a great way to see the countryside and would recommend it.
