Great Experience With Tour Guide in Siem Reap
Returned from a honeymoon in Vietnam, Cambodia and Bangkok...
Per recommendations here and on Lonely Planet Thorntree, we used Kim San as our guide. His contact info is (sourtkimsan@yahoo.com)
Kim San has ample experience as guide (he worked as a guide for 8 years before opening up his own company), and has even worked with the Amazing Race crew when they were in Siem Reap (He gave them their clue).
His price was very, very fair, and his English language skills were good. Overall, he was a great guide!
Great Experience With Tour Guide in Siem Reap
Which are the prices?
Taxis are usually a/c Toyota Camrys; they take 2 or 4 persons for $30 for full day at temples. There is an extra charge for tours outside of the Angkor Park and a few $ extra for sunrise.
Hi all;
We went to Siem Reap at the end of December 2008. We went from SaiGon to Phnom Penh and then from Phnom Penh to Suem Reap by bus. On the way back we took a spped boat, which floated on the Tonle Sap lake, back to Phnom Penh, and from there by bus back to SaiGon.
In Siem Reap we stayed at:
Lee Phannean Angkor Guest House on Sivutha Street
Tel: (855) 12 941 784
(855) 89 987 489
leephallean@yahoo.com-au
For 15 USD/ day we get a clean room with AC and hot water. Nice place, very friendly staff, the hotel also can coordinate your tour plan, like hiring tuk tuk, taxi or tour guide.
Some in the forum mentionned Sam, we contacted Sam from SaiGon and he booked the above hotel for us, and also sent Jin Sojeat (Jeat for short name), (855) 92 465 282, chin_sojeat@yahoo.com, to pick us at the bus station.
Sam nad Jeat are very nice fellows, Sam%26#39;s English is good, Jeat%26#39;s English is all right, we have no problem understading him.
The hotel is at walkingd istance to teh river, the market, the night market.
When I was a holiday in Siem Reap I was interested in temples (cultural tourism). If you want to visit ancient temples, please go to visit Cambodia because there are a lot of temples there.
I watched the TV last week, review of Amazing Race in Cambodia. I saw Kim San on TV because he worked with the Amazing Race crew when they were in Siem Reap (He gave them their clue). It is great TV show.
When I was on holiday in Angkor, someone who worked in hotel told me about temples. It is great to visit in raining season because less people at that time and it does not rain every day, especially it rains at night about 1 hour. You can see the green temples and green trees.
I do agree! It is the wonderful time to visit temples in raining season, but it does not rain like cat and dog.
Hello
I am going to siem reap next month and would like to have a fair idea of the rates that the guides charge for taking to Angkor Wat and around Sieam Reap.
Would appreciate some estimated cost of the rates for guide and transportation as well.
Thanks
MalaysianConnie
The price depends on where you wish to go (nearby temples or off the beaten track tour).
