Can anyone help me please!! I will soon be returning to Phnom Penh to settle indefinitely and am trying to secure a job as an English teacher. When I return I will have gained the Cambridge accredited TEFL/TESOL certificate and had observed teaching practice. I am finding it very frustrating trying to get a reply from any schools and universitiy departments. Does anyone know if this is common; I have been advised by someone that you have to be in Phnom Penh to get a job and that email correspondence is virtually non-existent? Is this the case? I have written to a dozen or more places on two occasions and not received one reply!! If anyone has any contact name whatsoever of a person or people that work in any schools and/or Norton University, Western University, Pannasastra University or the Royal University of Phnom Penh please could you let me know. At worse I will just arrive and take it from there but I would obviously prefer to have some contact with a future employer if possible before I leave the UK. Thanks,
Peter.
Teaching in Phnom Penh;HELP!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Peter
As this is a travel related forum, most of us here will have no idea about employment conditions in Phnom Penh. Have you had a look at the numerous jobs sites for Asian countries, such as Dave%26#39;s ESL Cafe? Give it a go, they might have something for you there. (Or will at least have people there who might be able to help you!)
Teaching in Phnom Penh;HELP!!!!!!!!!!
thanks for that; iv%26#39;e just looked at daveseslcafe and found it useful!! Thanks again
Peter
Cool! Good luck! :-)
Buy the Cambodia Daily newspaper, they always have ad%26#39;s for English teachers in there in the %26#39;Small ad%26#39;s %26#39; page . ( It%26#39;s only R1,200 ( 27c ) )
I got my job by agreeing to appear in a TV ad for them - if i was in the ad, then I had to be working there !!!
Thanks for that;things are getting sorted now but thanks for the advice. Peter
i have a friends that are teaching in cambodia..you will need to get here first,,more teachers than jobs available and pay very poor..i dont know anything about certification needed as every school will be slighty different but have been told by teachers here from the uk and australia, that schools are requesting degrees in english or education..
