I am travelling from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap on the 21st April. What are my options I really want to try the boat service, which one is best?
Thanks
Phnom Penh to Siem Reap
Do some research on the boat options...several horror stories around.
We took the Mekong Express bus and that was more than comfortable. About 5 hrs with a 30 minute rest stop half way.
We have pics, maps and stories here... www.bobandjanette.com which may help.

BobnJanette,
How far in advance did you get your tickets for Mekong Express? We want to use them in a few weeks and were wondering if we have to go the day before in order to secure a seat on the earliest trip. Did you or your hotel buy the tickets?
Thanks!
This is not the busy season, just belly up to the office the day before and purchase your tickets.
the speed boats from pp to siem reap have stopped due to the low water level, only found this out today..expect them not to be available till end june..the buses are running every day at different times can book the day before and request hotel pick up.at the siem reap end a tuk tuk will take you to your hotel as part of the service i used paramount but many to choose from..cost from $5 to $10 depanding on company..taxi at $15 per seat or $55 for full taxi..both options take about 6 hours..flights every day at about $85 per person..
At this time of year (or anytime for that matter) dont take a boat of any shape or form. I did and would not recommend it to anyone.I felt strongly enough about ti that I posted a warning on this site. Mekong Express is the go.
Take the boat if water levels permit. Great ride and very interesting to just float up the river. I far prefer it compared to coach ride. Mekong Express is run pretty professionally and I highly recommend you do it at least one time.
