Anyone interested in sharing a guide?

Hello- I will be in Siem Reap Feb 18-21. Would anyone that is going to be there the same dates be interested in sharing a guide to the temples/surrounding area? Thought I%26#39;d give the forum a try..

Hey PP just above you from Seattle. I will be there and gone before you By 1-2 day%26#39;s But, I%26#39;ve been told with all the info provided (at the entrance) just take a Tuk tuk to a certain temple and explore on your own. Then another Tuk tuk and continue on. The guide books provide all the info that a ';guide'; will provide. However, Guides can be warm and useful. Just trying to save you a few bucks.

Regards,

Dear Poshpacker,

I have just returned from a trip to Siem Reap. I was referred, by a friend, to a guide there who showed me around Angkor Wat and the surrounding area. No doubt a guide book would have provided me all the factual information about the Wats and surrounding area but what made my trip so incredibly special was being shown around by a local who loves his country, his people and his culture and takes great delight in sharing his culture with others. His sense of order of which Wat to visit first, and when to go where, proved to be perfect. When the sightseeing was done I really appreciated how the order in which we visited the different Wats enhanced my enjoyment of each. In addition to guiding, Chhay is also a University student and is studying subjects that enhance his skills as a guide.

He took care of all arrangements prior to my visit, including booking me into good budget accommodation (a service you may or may not want to take advantage of.) Of course he can book you into any class accommodation you desire. I hired a car and driver to get around to the Wats but other means of transportation are available. Chhay prides himself on offering tourists ';the smooth way'; (an expression I have taken home with me). He is very honest and trustworthy. His focus is to give people a positive experience of his country and at the same time meet their needs, desires and budget constraints of which he was extremely respectful.

I have no doubt that my experience of Angkor Wat, Siem Reap and Cambodia was greatly enhanced by my experience with Chhay.

If you are interested in pursuing this referral Chhay can be reached at chhay2005@hotmail.com, +85512444079, web www.angkorwattrip.com.

Wishing you a fabulous trip.
