We have a week in Cambodia in June 4th of June to 10th, We are flying into Phnom Penh on the 4th June at 4pm, we aim to have 2 nights in the capital and then head to Siam Reap (a must).
We originally wanted to go to Sihanoukville for a few days at the end of our trip for a day or 2 relaxing on the beach, but fitting all this in is simply far too much (I%26#39;m guessing this is correct??).
So, Just wondering if anyone can recommend a hotel that will provide a %26#39;beach substitute%26#39; for that we can stay in for our time in SR. We are prepared to pay a bit more for a bit of luxury, but can%26#39;t really afford any sky high prices.
Any hotel suggestions with good views, and that relaxing feel we were hoping to encounter at the beach would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Siem Reap - relaxing hotel - 'beach substitute'?!
Hi Ebor,
Within 7 nights in Cambodia is a bit tight to fit all in but I would like to suggest the following:
June 04: Fly to Phnom Penh for 02 nights
June 05: Fly Phnom Penh - Siem Reap. Overnight in Siem Reap
June 06- 07: Siem Reap
June 08: Fly Siem Reap - Phnom Penh and drive (03-04 hours) to Kep/Kampot or Sihanoukeville for 02 nights
June 09: Kep/Kampot or Sihanoukeville
June 10: Drive (03-04 hours) to Kep/Kampot or Sihanoukeville to Phnom Penh and depart from Phnom Penh to UK via Bangkok
The above is just skeleton and you can do the trip in reverse to arrive in Siem Reap first for 03 nights, then fly to Phnom Penh for 02 nights and drive to Kep/Kampot or Sihanoukeville for 02 nights to save the airfares from PNH-REP %26amp; REP-PNH.
Only in Kep/Kampot and Sihanoukeville can have beach not not really nice as other beach destinations in Thailand or Vietnam. Please advise your budget to suggest appropriate hotels.
Best regards,
Bobby
Siem Reap - relaxing hotel - 'beach substitute'?!
Hi Ebor,
me thinks the poster above might be involved in the travel industry (!!)
We stayed at the Day Inn in SR - (3 days there is a must to do it justice) it has a great pool, the hotel is only 64 rooms, 2 story building, quiet location, great rooms, if you get a ground floor room you have a little %26#39;courtyard%26#39; which opens onto the pool area. There are reviews of the hotel on this site - check it out.
The time you will take up getting to some of the places in Cambodia takes up lots of your holiday time so i think you%26#39;d be better to have the 2 nights in PP then go to SR for the rest of the time - it would also take a month to eat your way round SR.
happy planning and safe travels

Can also recommend the Day Inn. Pool was a lovely size, hardly a soul used it while we were there. Nice walking distance into the town, 10 minutes perhaps? Definitely not sky high prices but it was nice and comfortable and suited us.
Thanks for the replies everyone!
Day Inn looks great, but, has anyone been to here: Bopha Angkor? http://www.bopha-angkor.com/
We can get a delxue poolside room for USD 285/ 200GBP for 3 nights which is something that really appeals. This is direct from the hotel, does this sound like good value?
