Early in our 17 day trip to Cambodia last month, we decided as we arrived in PP to do two days there like Grand Palace, Genocide Musuem (although immensely sad, but a must to witness) Killing fields %26amp; in and around Sisowath Quay, drinking %26amp; eating. We then took the Paramount Ankgor bus 4-5 hours up to SR. Even on the bus with no arranged place to stay my mate (who lives in Sihanoukville) rang up a Hotel (Wats Up) and we booked a couple of nights there, when we got there behold the tuk tuk driver was there waiting with his sign up of our names and delivered us to the Hotel, which for 8 dollars a night and just across the bridge from SR town was just right. First night we arranged a tuk tuk driver to escort us around Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom %26amp; Bayon, and Ta Prohm for about 20 dollars a day, these guys are so experienced and updated with all the sights that he was worth every cent, all I can stress unless youre really into the history and want to know as much as possible about background of these temples I wouldn%26#39;t bother with guides. Obviously to see it all thouroughly you need probably at least 3-4 days we done just one whole day there with a 8.30 start and come 6pm we needed a good rest, what better way than heading to Bar Street and we quite liked the town, its like in a square shape and some great markets especially Angkor night market where my wife %26amp; I had 30 minutes with our feet being nipped by %26#39;baby pirana%26#39; a holistic Chinese therapy feet in tank where the blighters would chew away dead skin, certainly a funny feeling. Only 3 dollars. Big tip obviously have one or two main meals in a nice restaurant but we used those stalls like opposite Molly Malones pub where all rice %26amp; noodle dishes are 1 dollar a piece, really fresh and well worth it, and quite a happy crowd there and great for people watching. Had a lovely foot massage really good 7 dollars for one hour and really relaxing first place on the right as you come into town from that bridge. Haircut, guess what 1 dollar and a really nice cut, the missus 3 dollar and she had alot of cutting there. The Piano Bar seems to be the place to hang out there and further along that road a Pizza type place with a busy disco set, well packed with backpackers and younger crowd, we were too old for that! Certainly when going around the markets listen for a minute for shopkeepers price and wait a minute or two and you almost certainly can get it knocked down a bit. We thought SR was really worth the visit, the temples were unbeliveable and a really nice feel about the place, please dont leave Cambodia without heading North to see it all and if I can give a tip is as my wife is from the Philippines and I know SEAsia well, please have a bit of patience when dealing with day to day things, it maybe slower in places but you get there in the end and your find the people exceedingly helpful and although they struggle a bit very friendly.

Do not leave Cambodia without visiting SR
Thanks Maneki unfortunately not us on photo but it bought back good memories, we think Siem Reap was probably the nicest place we visited in Cambodia and its funny but we collect magnets of places we go as we love travelling. and as you know its a great place for markets %26amp; shops and we looked everywhere there for one on SR or Cambodia, the only place we could get any were on the way out at PP airport, well at least we gained a couple on our last day.
Glad to hear you had fun! :-)
