Weather in May

Could someone advise what the weather is like in Cambodia in May? I%26#39;ve heard it is the rainy season so is this not a good time to visit?

We were in Cambodia last May/June and the weather was hot and dry. I think during our 3 weeks we had one afternoon storm.

You are right - it is the rainy season. The trouble with the weather is it will never do what is expected of it: so you could be lucky and miss it.

Generally speaking, Cambodia has four seasons.

1. November-Ferbruary: it is cool and dry

2. March- May: it is hot and dry

3. June-August: it is cool and wet

4. September-October: it is cool and wet

In May, it has no rain yet, but the weather is a bit hot. The hottest temperature in hot season is approximately 35 degree celsius. In the morning, it is about 23-25 degree c.

A moderate number of tourists come to visit Cambodia this time, but they have to prepare clothes for hot season, hats with large brims to protect themselves from the sun and other necessary materials.

Sorry Emily, I should have elaborated.

I was in Siem Reap April last year and we had one particularly bad, wet and stormy afternoon; but then I expect changeable weather in the region at that time.

As you will see from this chart (http://www.worldweather.org/145/c00347.htm) the best time to go is Dec - March.

However if May is the only time you can get away then I personally would have no hesitation in going. The sites are awesome.
