flights from Thailand to Siem Reap

Hi,

Is it true you can only get flights from Bangkok, and Bangkok Airways has monopoly? Cos I%26#39;m in Southern Thailand now and need to fly to SR around 20/02 but can only find above flights and they are way expensive!! Any suggestions please

flights from Thailand to Siem Reap

alternatively look for flights to Phnom Penh and catch a bus from there

No it%26#39;s not true - you can also fly direct from Chiang Mai (personal experience) and maybe from other places.

Yep, this seems to be true.

Do you only need to take a single flight? We used Bangkok Airways Discovery Airpass program and it was not ';way expensive'; but you need to book at least three flights. As an alternative, you can find a much cheaper flight to Pnom Penh and take a taxi from there.

Sorry, too early, brain not totally in gear! lol

Bangkok airways does have the monopoly on the bangkok to siem reap route, but its not the only route into the country

bangkok airways also flies to siem reap from samui and phuket, but as far as it goes, I%26#39;m fairly sure that those flights go to bangkok first and then onto SR.

if you book it as a ie samui - siem reap flight, it counts as one leg for a discovery pass, but if you book samui - bkk, and then bkk - sr it counts as 2 (helping you get closer to 3 legs for the discovery pass)

Hi all!

Sorry I do not want to open a new post and this post about Bangkok airlines.

Is that true you have to reconfirm your Bangkok airlines flight ?

( I have an e-ticket , so this is why I`m confused, but I read it somewhere, but I can`t remember where )

If yes, can you do it at any Bangkok airlines office or you have to call them ?

Thanks,

zs

Can anyone please explain to me what is a ';discovery pass'; and how many destinations and over what time frame it allows travel - ALSO

which airline(s) offer it assuming it%26#39;s what i can glean from the other posts i.e. multiple destination

flight ticket between destinations in close proximity though in different countries ???

Please let me know how these passes work and to which countries they apply. Thanks SO MUCH in advance !!!

If I am not mistaken, according to some ancient rule, you are supposed to confirm any flight with any airline within 72 hours. This said, I have never done that and have never had any problems with any airline including Bangkok Airways (made five flights with them recently). So just relax, there%26#39;s nothing special about Bangkok Airways in this regard.

(the very first hit in google)

Hi Lizzyturkey... depending where you are in southern thailand it%26#39;s probably a lot cheaper to get to KL and take air asia to siem reap... Bangkok airways monopoly route bkk-rep is very expensive and as mentioned it%26#39;s cheaper to fly air asia bkk-pnh and take the bus ($10) up to siem reap assuming you have the 6 hours for the bus trip

cheers
