Mekong Express from Battambang to Phnom Penh

Is it possible to take the Mekong Express from Battambang to Phnom Penh? How long would it take?

Also is it better to take the boat from Seim Reap to Battambang or better the reverse way? Finally, should we really go to Battambang? I thought that it might be fun to take the cooking class there and to also ride the bamboo train. We plan on spending two nights in Battambang. Would this be enough time?

Hi, I know that this answer may be too late for you, but as I have just returned home from Cambodia and other SE Asian countries, I wanted to respond to this thred.

Firstly, as far as I know Mekong Express bus does not run from Battambang to PP. We used Paramount Angkor Express, which is a local ';VIP'; bus. I was airconditioned, but that was all to make it ';VIP';. Good run though, 5 hours, no incidents.

Secondly, Battambang has been a beautiful town sometimes, there are beautiful French villas and mansions, wide river boulevards, some interesting wats, good Market etc. I only wish I had seen the place 50 years ago! Now it is badly in need for repairs and cleaning up!

I dont know about the boat trip, as I have not done it myself, but I have heard people enjoying it.

We will be in Cambodia in July and I%26#39;m trying to get our trip together. Much appreciate your info on the bus to PP. How long were you in Battambang? We wanted to see more of Cambodia than temples and killing fields. Seeing how the people live is important to us. Did you get a guide while you were there?

we were only 2 days in Battambang, wish it could have been a longer stay. We stayed in Teo Hotel, which is very clean, quiet and friendly place. We did not have a quide, but tuk tuk drivers are good and knowledgeable, you can always hire one of them.
