Sihanoukville to Siem Reap

Hello,

I am planning a sort of round about trip to Cambodia next month starting in Phnom Penh for a couple days then down to Sihanoukville, and possibly back up to Siem Reap.

My question is what are realistic travel times from Sihanoukville to Siem Reap? Can this be done in a day or should I allow more time?

Thanks in advance!

Sihanoukville to Siem Reap

From Sihanoukville to Phnom Penh it is 4 hours by bus. From Phnom Penh to Siem Reap it is 6 hours by bus.

It is possible to do in a day, if you get the first bus in the morning from Sihanoukville (and the bus doesn%26#39;t break down or anything) but if you are not too fond of spending 10 hours on buses in one day, then break up the trip wiht a night in Phnom Penh. (This is what I did when I did that route in December.)

Why don%26#39;t you do a switcheroo ? Visit Sihanook-ville first and relax from your %26#39;Air-time%26#39; , come up to Phnom Penh for your 2/3 days , then on to Seam reap .This will save on a long bus trip and give you more hours with your feet on terra-firma .This will depend of course , where you are flighing in and out of Cambodia from .

Thank You Maneki-neko for the great info. 10 hours is quite a long time. Looking at the map I thought it might be a little overboard to expect to do it in a day.

Odball,

We are flying in from the States into BKK then onto Phnom Penh a couple days later. My main interest is Phnom Penh and the caost. Then we got to talking and thought Angkor might be a nice way to end the trip. Then maybe fly from Siem Reap back to Bangkok and home...

Bummer Phnom Penh is in the middle so to speak...Be great if there was an airport in Sihanoukville! :)
