Family of five going to Cambodia next March/April. Was planning to stay in Sihanoukville for 5 nights but decided that a night or 2 in Kep may be worth it (we love seafood) Will be staying with 3 kids so pool will be an advantage. The Beach House looked ok but couldn%26#39;t get any reveiws from travellers. Any opinions
The Beach House anyone stayed there?
Here are a couple reviews

The Beach House anyone stayed there?
I will be there in January and can let you know.
Just got back and stayed at the Beach House for 3 nights in mid-Oct.
Great hotel very clean. Service was good, though it is markedly better when the owner comes on the weekends - you might try to book for a weekend.
Hotel would be good for kids, the pool is a nice size and very clean also.
Had one of my best meals in Cambodia at their restaurant - the Prawn Char Khreung was excellent!
Note that there%26#39;s not much at all to do in Kep - when the sun sets at 6-7, the area around the Beach House is completely black.
Be sure to book the hotel%26#39;s boat to go to Koh Tonsay - it%26#39;s a beautiful beach and a nice day out with fresh crab and fish caught right there and brought to your table.
Have fun! I%26#39;d go back anytime!
Thanks everyone
It sounds like the Beach House will suit our needs perfectly, the pool being a bonus. I thought the town would be pretty limited with activities but wanted to check it out for a couple of days, mostly for the seafood in the area which sounds great.
Cheers

We stayed there for 3 nights over Dec 2008 / Jan 2009. It is excellent. We a re a family of four with 2 boys aged 9 and 11. All the rooms are the same size, designed to accomodate a couple of people. We had a very bid double-bed (which we had to share with our 9 year old) and a fold-out extra bed for our other son, paying $USD 40 per night, without breakfast. Rooms without the extra bed are $USD35. I%26#39;d suggest you will need two rooms.
But its very well managed, the rooms are clean and nice, the location is excellent, it has a nice relaxed vibe to the place, the pool and adjacent chill-out restaurant area is superb. It includes a few board games. Food and drinks is a bit pricier that some other places in town but not unreasonable.
Make sure though that you visit the Crab restaurants because they had the best seafood we tasted in Cambodia and were cheap.
Thanks for your post Carperdiem.
Can you recommend any particular crab restaurant to eat at? Also did you happen to do a trip to Rabbit Island. When you say the restaurant at the Beach House was a bit pricier than outside places what was the average price? I%26#39;m thinking that even though it was more expensive than the usual Cambodian places to eat it would still be cheaper than eating out in Australia. Finally hope you enjoyed your trip to Cambodia, how did the kids like it it?
cheers

If you%26#39;re staying at Sihanoukville, which is surrounded by beautiful beaches in every direction, why the heck would you need a pool??? I hear Kep and Kampot are quite secluded (i.e. boring unless you%26#39;re on a honeymoon, if ya know what I mean) but there%26#39;s heaps for kids to see and do on the other beaches.
Hi,
I stayed in Kep in October last year and spent 8 nights on Koh Tonsay. Kep is very very quiet, some reviews say its up and coming but it is still run down squatters in some of the colonial houses and the locals are desperate for work. It is a charming place almost a ghost town. And for the crab go to the crab market and go to KIM LEE its crab is something else. About 50m up the road on the opposite side is a nice hotel with a pool.
Please be aware that this is a remote place very run down but thats just the charm of the place. Not very many speak English, however there is a cafe called LED ZEP with a French man who speaks good English.
Not sure the kids will like it but it is a special place and has a special place in my heart.
Thanks for all your replies.
In response to why would we need a pool, before Kep we are staying two nights in PP, in a hotel without a pool, so given the heat the kids will really appreciated having somewhere to go for a swim. As from what I hear the beaches around Kep aren%26#39;t that great.
I realise that Kep is a bit off the tourist trail and very quiet but this is one of the reasons we want to visit. That and the fact the seafood is supposed to be wonderful.
Beach house is great. Order early at the restaurant, service with a smile but can be slow as small kitchen. Order your kids food first if they are hungry and then yours once theirs has come as burgers etc take much longer. VG margueritas. Agree totally with comments re crab market. Agree how much you want in advance. The local green and black pepper is the best in the world. Also the squid is superb. There is a small national park with a few walks, Led Zep cafe has a map. And there is a hill up behind Beach House you can walk up with a wat and some friendly nuns at the top. Kep is a wonderful mellow spot and we have had lots of fun there with our two boys 8 and 5. Rabbit Island worth a trip but dont expect deserted paradise. We found an octopus living in a crisp packet there once which was pretty cool! Also recommend the sailing club next to very expensive boutique place Tngai Ban Chat. Its simply beautiful and the food is great. They have a sailing instructir who can take you out in their catamanarn or if you know what you are doing you can hire it solo or canoe or windsurf.
Kampot also worth a stop - buy a cake on the way through from the epic arts cafe. Have fun!
